Short on Material
Sorry - I haven’t been in the studio for several days, and I am short on material to photograph. I did finish weaving the woven shibori project at school, and I am really excited to dye it. I’m predictably leaning
Colors I Love
This is going to be a short entry. I love orange, brown and fushia. I was transformed from a serious stomping, whining, paper-work-flattened creature into a calm, beauty-loving human being by this oh-so-lovely color combination.
Mending
[gallery link="file" orderby="title"] Weaving time was minimal today - there were so many chores that I had been strategically ignoring in order to try to be a weaver, However, I had to put my shuttle down and face taxes, closets, PILES
Slow Cloth
I spent the day sewing the unsatisfactory “linsey woolsey (mohair-sey) into pillow covers. I had cushion covers for my dining room chairs in mind, but I didn’t like the fabric enough for that project so I decided to make pillow
Bloomin’ Baby w/ Snoots
Bloomin’ Baby is finally finished including “snoots” (my niece’s name for the tassels on her baby blanket). I still haven’t taken a good photo - maybe if we have some sun tomorrow. I now have to concentrate on two projects. One
Still On It
I thought it would be done - but I am still working on the baby blanket. Weaving is going somewhat slowly - working with a temple - spring lethargy - repeat pattern? I can’t say for sure. I will finish
Warped Anew
Not a lot to write about, but 1. I have a commission to finish a baby blanket by Saturday. Weave faster! 2. I am itching to get back to the fulled scarf experimentation. 3. Tomorrow (at school) I will finally get to begin
Hmmmm?
In my enthusiasm for the large scale fulled lace idea I scrambled through my stash to find a fiber in the weight and “fullability” necessary to continue experimenting with the drafts in Sandra Rude’s article, “fulled merino scarves”. I would
Tied One On
I couldn’t resist - even though I was supposed to be scheduling my older son’s college visits (BAD MOM!) I had to revisit the bumpy alpaca. The colors in the photo are not accurate - I will add (daytime) photos
Thready Goodness
[gallery link="file"] After the disappointing “linsey mohair-sey” results - I wanted something dramatic and fast to inspire me. I also wanted to use some lace-weight-mill-end alpaca I bought last fall. I found an article in Fabrics That Go Bump by Sandra
Crisis of Faith
I got the cushion covers off the loom and washed them today. I am not happy! I really got the weave-structure/fiber wrong on this one. The structure is an invented undulating-ish, point-ish twill which was wavy and interesting on the
Cotton Baby
[gallery link="file" columns="2" orderby="title"] The above photos are of Cotton baby just off the loom. It is a stash buster - although I did have to but 2 more cones of cotton to complete it. It was also an experiment in
