It Worked

I finished weaving at about 11:00 pm last night and had to see if the “auction” wool would full – so I washed it and hung it up for this morning. I think it worked. The 2/18 wool didn’t really fluff out, but it did full enough to become stable and fill in the gaps in the selvedges. I read about the technique of not taking the contrasting weft all the way to the selvedges and tested it on this piece. I was a little concerned as I was weaving that there were long gaps in the (fine weft) selvedge as the heavier weft was woven, but after being washed the threads moved right into place. I really like the little edge where the two separate layers are clear.
