Inspiration

Sorry for the wee hiatus, but I had a chance to spend a couple of days rambling around NYC checking out galleries and museums gathering inspiration for weavings to come. We (my older son, sister and younger niece) went to the last day of the exhibition BANNERS OF PERSUASION Demons, yarns & tales: Tapestries by Contemporary Artists at the James Cohan Gallery. The exhibition was composed of pieces created by fine artists translated into tapestry and then woven by master weavers in China. It was very interesting to see which ideas translated well, which didn’t and try to discern why. The two above were two of my favorites. We also saw Damien Hirst’s show at the Gagosian (hmmmm?) and spent some blissful hours at the Metropolitan. Back to the studio tomorrow with renewed vigor.
