Cottolin Pickin’
This was a little bit of much-needed weaving therapy. My mother-in-law has been in and out of the hospital for the last two months. We have been driving back and forth to Eastern MA to visit, help and cheer her on. Sadly, her recovery from surgery has been fraught with complications so our whole family has been stressed, worried and sad. For me, working with a lovely material (Brassard Cottolin) on a fresh project has been unquestionably therapeutic. It can be so frustrating when dealing with doctors/hospitals/illness because of the lack of control, the inability to effect much change and the often excruciatingly slow pace of improvement. Weirdly, having a little control over a weaving project – solving problems – making progress . . . really does offer a balm . . . at least for me.
This is yardage woven using Brassard 8/2 cottolin – threaded in a deflected double weave – woven half as def dw and half as plain weave. I don’t have a pattern yet, but I am hoping for enough to make a garment of some kind for summer.
