Voila

So yesterday I had a hefty bag full of bicycle-wheel-spun African mohair and today I a have a rainbow (a rainbow with some problems in the yellow area – okay – a rainbow with some weird white spots . . . still). I like to think of it as magic, but then I look at the kitchen and WISH it were magic.

Kyla Allon and I spent the morning cookin’ up the mohair, alpaca, sock yarn and homespun to achieve our now dripping rainbow. We used Cushing acid dyes for the most part and did both kettle/vat and microwave dyeing. The approach was somewhat haphazard (knowing me – no surprise). Measuring was minimal with only a couple of regrets – like that massive quantity of rust – why?
