Hmmmm?
In my enthusiasm for the large scale fulled lace idea I scrambled through my stash to find a fiber in the weight and “fullability” necessary to continue experimenting with the drafts in Sandra Rude’s article, “fulled merino scarves”. I would rate the project about a 2 star happiness rating. The alpaca definitely doesn’t full to the degree that the merino scarves do despite very vigorous shocking from hot, hot to ice cold. Additionally, the color blending that looked so good in the sample was less good after fulling. It got very mottled in the plain weave areas and in the “pure color” areas of the fulled lace floats it is reminiscent of some shag rugs/pillows from my memories of adolescence. More experimentation necessary.
