These towels came about as part of the development of a class on “moving thread” structures for the Vävtuga Swedish Weaving school. As I was researching and thinking about projects for a class called “Nordic Deflections”, I was perusing my library of Scandinavian (and other) weaving books and came across a fabulous draft that fit the bill in a book called Danske bondevævninger: Hvergarnsstoffer ca. 1750-1850 : analyser, materialer, mønstre og farver (Danish Edition) by Paulli Andersen. I was intrigued by the challenge of using a traditional Scandinavian draft with a modern color palette and yarn. I hope you are too. I published a version of these towels in the May June 2015 issue of Handwoven, but have since revised the sett and treadling variations. Once again, there is a lot of room to play with color and treadling (I have included 4 variation, but the pictures show an additional plain weave version and others.
Pattern available on Etsy.

So pretty. Just downloaded the draft. It’ll be a pleasure to explore it; it’ll be my next project.
Thank you!
P.S. I saw other designs I’d like to try.
